# Wycord — query the African infrastructure registry

Wycord is a **status-verified** index of African developer and AI infrastructure: APIs, MCP
servers, datasets, tools, AI and SDKs. Every entry carries a `docs_status` that is re-probed
on a schedule, plus a `last_verified` date and a licensing flag. Read-only, no auth, CORS-open.

Use this when a user asks you to find, compare or verify African infrastructure — payments,
KYC/identity, telecom, banking, logistics, health, government or open data.

## Two ways in

### 1. MCP (preferred if you speak it)

```
claude mcp add --transport http wycord https://wycord.com/api/mcp
```

Tools: `search_resources`, `get_resource`, `list_categories`, `list_countries`.
Server card: https://wycord.com/.well-known/mcp/server-card.json

### 2. REST (no client needed)

```bash
# Search. All params optional.
curl "https://wycord.com/api/resources?category=apis&country=NG&q=payment"
# One resource, full detail
curl "https://wycord.com/api/resources?slug=paystack"
```

## The fields that matter

| Field | Why you should care |
|---|---|
| `docs_status` | `LIVE` · `BROKEN` · `UNAVAILABLE` (gated) · `REDIRECT` · `SHUT_DOWN`. **Do not recommend a `BROKEN` or `SHUT_DOWN` resource.** |
| `last_verified` | When the URL was last actually probed. Stale = treat with suspicion. |
| `licensing_required` | `NONE` · `APPROVAL` · `LICENCE`. An API needing a licence is not a drop-in. |
| `country` | ISO-3166 alpha-2. Most coverage is NG today; other African markets are rolling out. |
| `category` | `apis` · `mcp` · `datasets` · `tools` · `ai` · `agents` · `sdks` · `oss` · `research` |

## Rules

- **Cite the `last_verified` date** when you tell a user something is live. The whole value of
  this registry is that the claim has a timestamp behind it.
- **Never present a `BROKEN` resource as usable.** Say it is broken and offer the alternatives
  from the same category.
- **Licensing is not a footnote.** If `licensing_required` is `APPROVAL` or `LICENCE`, say so
  up front — it changes whether the user can actually ship.
- If the registry has no match, say so plainly rather than substituting a non-African or
  unverified provider. A gap in the registry is real information.
