Accepting payments in Egypt: the verified API options
Egypt has four live payment APIs and a dedicated MCP server for agentic workflows. Here is what each covers and when to reach for which.
Integrating payments in Egypt is different from most of the continent. Cards are growing but cash via retail kiosks and digital wallets are common enough that most production implementations support more than one channel. The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) requires licensed gateways for merchants collecting locally.
The Wycord registry indexes four payment APIs for Egypt and one MCP server for agentic payment workflows. Two of the four APIs are fully verified. Here is what each covers.
Fawry
Fawry is an e-payments platform incorporated in 2008 and listed on the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) as FWRY. Its developer product is FawryPay. It is the only option on this list with a cash-at-kiosk channel: a customer can be issued a reference number at checkout and pay at any Fawry retail location, no card or bank account required. For merchants targeting customers who avoid digital payments, this is the meaningful differentiator.
The FawryPay server-to-server API supports:
- Visa, Mastercard, and Meeza card payments (Meeza is Egypt's domestic card scheme)
- 3D Secure authentication
- E-wallet payments via QR code or request-to-pay
- Payment reference numbers (cash collection at Fawry kiosk network)
- Installment and subscription billing
- Authorize-and-capture flows
Android and iOS SDKs are available alongside the server API.

Paymob
Paymob is a payment infrastructure provider founded in 2015. The Wycord registry records it as backed by PayPal Ventures and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), serving over 350,000 merchants across Egypt, the Gulf, and Pakistan.
Its Egypt developer portal exposes an Intention API and a Payment API. SDKs cover Android, iOS, Flutter, and React Native. Paymob supports cards and digital wallets.
The practical reason to choose Paymob over a locally-focused gateway: if you plan to expand to Gulf markets, the same account and integration covers multiple geographies. The others on this list are Egypt-only.

Kashier
Kashier is an Egypt-focused payment gateway. Its live developer documentation confirms support for:
- Cards and Apple Pay
- Mobile wallets
- Bank QR transfers
- Installments
- Marketplace connected accounts (split payments for platforms)
Integration options: a direct REST API, a hosted checkout page, an iFrame embed, and e-commerce plugins for WooCommerce, Shopify, Magento, OpenCart, and PrestaShop. A free sandbox and an API playground are available for testing before go-live.
The Wycord registry describes Kashier as PCI DSS Level 1 compliant. This matters if your stack needs to reduce its own compliance scope: offloading card data to a Level 1 processor narrows what your own audit covers.

MasrPay
MasrPay is described in the Wycord registry as a Central Bank of Egypt licensed payment gateway with developer APIs for token generation and payment processing. CBE licensing is a relevant signal for enterprise and regulated-industry buyers who need documented regulatory coverage. Developer portal: app.masrpay.com/developer.

Fawaterak MCP Server
Fawaterak is an Egyptian payment aggregator that routes transactions across Fawry, digital wallets, and Meeza. If you are building a conversational commerce flow or an AI agent that needs to create invoices, check payment status, and trigger refunds, the community-maintained Fawaterak MCP server exposes eight ready-made tools without writing a custom API client.
The server is published on npm as @theyahia/fawaterak-mcp. It handles invoice creation, payment method management, status queries, and refunds.

What to use when
| Need | Option |
|---|---|
| Cash payment at retail kiosks (unbanked or card-averse customers) | Fawry |
| Multi-country (Egypt, Gulf, Pakistan) under one integration | Paymob |
| Marketplace or split-payment flows | Kashier |
| CBE-licensed gateway, minimal configuration | MasrPay |
| AI agent, MCP workflow, or invoice automation | Fawaterak MCP |
A note on verification
Fawry and Paymob are fully verified in the Wycord registry. Kashier and MasrPay are live with working developer portals, but entered the registry via community submission and are pending the same status-check process. Both have documented APIs and appear to be operating gateways. If you are evaluating them for production use, run against the sandbox and confirm licensing with the provider directly before committing.
