Crypto and stablecoin payment APIs for African developers

A practical map of the verified crypto and stablecoin APIs on Wycord, covering cross-border payment infrastructure, exchange APIs, live FX data, and MCP servers for AI agents.

10 verified providers covered. Select one to open its registry record.

Cross-border payments between African countries are costly and slow on traditional rails. FX restrictions in Nigeria, settlement delays across correspondent banking chains, and the absence of a pan-African interbank network make this a persistent problem for developers and founders. Stablecoin and crypto infrastructure is filling part of that gap. Wycord's registry lists 12 verified resources matching a crypto search, covering payment APIs, exchange integrations, live FX data feeds, and MCP servers for AI agents. Here is the breakdown.

Stablecoin payment infrastructure

These APIs treat stablecoins as a payment rail for moving value across borders. They are the right choice when you need to collect or disburse across multiple African countries without routing through international wire transfers.

Yellow Card is the broadest option in the registry. A single REST API covers payment processing, local fiat on/off-ramps, USD stablecoin (USDT/USDC) savings, and a Treasury Portal for fund management across 20+ African countries. SDKs are available for Python, Node.js, Ruby, and cURL. Production access requires KYB approval. Docs.

Bani covers 16+ African countries on one integration, including NGN, GHS, KES, XOF, and SLE rails. It supports collections, payouts, virtual accounts, and stablecoin payments. Authentication requires a bearer token plus an HMAC-SHA256 signature on each request. The positioning is B2B: paying African suppliers via whichever rail settles fastest.

Eversend covers 18 African markets with mobile money and bank rails, and supports USDC/USDT as a funding mechanism. It is designed for businesses making recurring cross-border disbursements.

Busha is an SEC-licensed Nigerian digital asset exchange with 1 million+ users. Its Busha Business and Busha Commerce REST APIs let you accept crypto payments, process payouts, and convert stablecoins, with coverage across Nigeria, Kenya, and the United States. Docs.

Crypto exchange APIs

These resources are for developers who need programmatic trading, merchant wallet generation, or real-time crypto price data as a proxy for informal FX rates.

Quidax offers the simplest path to a live NGN FX reference. Its USDT/NGN ticker is free, requires no API key, and tracks the parallel market within approximately 5 to 8 NGN. The correct base URL is app.quidax.io; the api.quidax.com subdomain has an SSL error. This makes it the fastest option for any Nigerian application that needs a real-world FX signal without any authentication setup. Docs.

Roqqu is a Lagos-based exchange with 1.7 million users, offering an API for wallet generation, sending and receiving tokens across BTC, ETH, Tron, BNB, USDT (TRC20), and XRP, plus market pricing. It also includes fiat on/off-ramps, BVN/NIN identity verification, and utility bill payments (airtime, data, bills). Useful for Nigerian merchants who need crypto and local utilities in one integration. Developer portal.

Luno is a South Africa-based exchange with a REST API for trading and account management, plus a WebSocket feed for streaming market data and order updates. Luno also operates in Nigeria. Docs.

VALR is a South African exchange licensed as FSP 53308. Its REST API supports programmatic crypto and fiat withdrawals across 60+ cryptocurrencies, and its WebSocket feed streams market, order, and balance updates in real time. API key access requires 2FA to be enabled on the account first. Docs.

MCP servers for AI agents

Two MCP servers in the Wycord registry expose African crypto market data to AI agents and developer tools.

Nigeria Crypto Tickers MCP wraps Quidax and provides live BTC/NGN, ETH/NGN, and USDT/NGN tickers as agent-callable tools, along with a list_crypto_markets tool for all available pairs. It is read-only, free, requires no API key, and installs via npx -y @braynexservices/nigeria-mcp-quidax-crypto. GitHub.

Luno MCP Server is Luno's official Go-language MCP server, exposing market data, trading, and account operations as tools. It is distributed via Homebrew and maintained by Luno with SonarCloud quality checks. GitHub.

Before you build

Production access for Yellow Card, Bani, Busha, and Roqqu all require approval and KYB verification. Start with the sandbox environments or read-only public endpoints (Quidax ticker, VALR public market feed) to build and test before submitting documentation. For Nigeria-specific regulatory context, Busha's SEC license and Roqqu's BVN/NIN integration matter if you need compliance-ready options.
